As any multiple mother, you shall be anxious to see your babies interacting with others, right?
But did you know that: - During the first months of life, multiples already notice the presence of the others and sometimes also interact. But as they still don’t have the sociability notion, they don’t use to be very gentle, and can even bite or pitch the siblings.
- Multiples divide each other companion since the womb and during the childhood many develop a non verbal language, only understood by themselves.
- Multiples demonstrate a special care with each other: they comfort each other when one of them is sad, if one of them gets hurt the other can cry together, if you complain with one of them, the other asks you to stop. It is the sweetest thing when they hug each other and look at each other with complicity!
- Multiples use to share toys and belongings with sibling without problem.
- Multiples defend each other when an elder sibling, a friend or a stranger teases.
But it is not everything that is good: multiples sometimes can be rude to each other. Have you ever imagined how frustrating it can be to share the same things since the womb – mainly the parents´ love? Who wouldn’t be hostile sometimes? That is why, bites are extremely common among them – most babies has been bitten at least once.
Many time, when a multiple is playing with something – a ball, for example -, even if there are millions of equal balls, the other will specifically want that one that is being used! They also show jealousy when one of them is in companion of the parents. It is very nice when we are with one baby and the others come crawling and climb our body to also reach the lap.
Multiples compete to see who will have the possession of a toy, to call parents attention, to see who will eat before or take a shower afterwards, etc. That is why they tend to be more irritating, making everything to be detached from others.
Never, in any way, make comparisons among them! Always try to demonstrate the same affection for all. When you do something to any of them – give a kiss, for example – do to all of them.
The hard it can be, try to resist and don’t make multiple wear identical clothes. They will be even prettier dressed in the same style and with different colors.
In my opinion, undoubtedly the larger challenge of having my multiples is have to choose... Choose for who I will give the first good morning kiss when they are all already waken up in their cradles and want to jump as soon as I enter the bedroom, choose who I will pick up when all of them are crying at the same time, choose for who I will give the first glass of juice when they are all thirsty…
